Earlier this year we ran an exciting pilot film making project with 3 groups of students from around the Wellington region. Three short films were produced and screened as part of our Capital E National Arts Festival in our Young & Cinematic programme. Over 2,500 school students viewed these wonderful short films.
One Working Day to Make One Working Game stars Eli Martin, Dan Harward-Jones, Henry De Blois, Noah Watson, Jordan Mumby, Orlando Parisblue, John Scott, Maddie Grieveson, Samantha Eastwood & Laura Tucker. It was written, performed, shot, directed and edited between June 2014 and February 2015 with the assistance of Capital E and the professional guidance of film & television industry mentors.
They were shipwrecked on a jagged unknown reef! They were cast adrift on an angry uncharted sea! They were flung ashore on a strange lost island that teemed with a thousand perilous dangers! SWIS Family Robinson was written, performed, shot, directed and edited between June 2014 and February 2015 by nine South Wellington Intermediate School students with the assistance of Capital E and the professional guidance of film & television industry mentors.
In the future, do you want to leave your grandchildren a planet fulled with litter, that looks like a rubbish dump? Do you want people serving toxic sludge at parties? Will we need police and ninjas to make sure people are acting in a sustainable way? SAVE DA FUTURE asks these questions and offers some great solutions in this advertisement for sustainability, created by students from Tawa Intermediate School, recorded and edited in the Capital E OnTV Studio, Wellington.
This year Capital E Digital is thrilled to be teaming up with the Miramar Events Trust to bring you the Roxy 5 Short Film Competition, with Capital E for 2016.
There are awesome cash prizes to be won for schools as well as the chance for teams to pitch their films and re-make them with industry professionals.
The competition is open for students years 7-13 and the short films can be of any genre and style (documentary, animation, 3D, silent, stop motion, movie trailer, commercial, comedy, music video etc), but must incorporate the theme of: “Kiwi As”. The duration needs to be a minimum of 45 seconds and up to a maximum length of 5 minutes.
The emphasis is on creative story telling potential rather than technical production. The short films can be made during term 1 and will need to be submitted early in term 2, next year.
All the films will be screened at The Roxy Cinema red carpet premiere event in May 2016, where prizes and winners will be announced.
This is a unique opportunity that brings together upcoming student talent, with film professionals, industry related businesses, organisations and partners – it’s all about building creative experiences and opportunities for our young future film makers.
