Transactions
Our store operates in Wellington, New Zealand, and all transactions are processed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST (sales tax) of 15%, with the exception of donations. Our secure server software uses industry-standard SSL encryption technology. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypts, or encodes, your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address so this information would be rendered unreadable should someone try to intercept it.
Returns Policy
Goods supplied through the webshop are purchased on a firm sale basis. Please choose carefully, and check your order details before making payment. Returns will not be accepted for any change of mind purchase. If you receive an incorrect or faulty product, please immediately contact us prior to returning the item and we will arrange, as appropriate, either a goods exchange or a refund. Goods will not be accepted for return or refund without prior authorisation, and/or that are later than 30 days after you receive the goods. To assist with processing the return, please also return the original packaging. If your order is lost during delivery, we will send you a replacement (depending on product availability) once the maximum delivery time has expired. We ask that you contact your local mail centre before contacting us in case your order is being held. All replacement items for lost / damaged products will be shipped at our cost. Credit card refunds will be processed within 5 working days of our receipt of the goods, but may take longer than that to appear on your credit card statement. Please note that cheque refunds require a long processing time. If you cancel your order after it has been shipped, the above policy will apply. If you wish to query your final payment, please contact us.
Public Ticketing Policy
National Theatre for Children public performances
- Tickets are issued as general admission and are subject to availability. Tickets are non-refundable. We will endeavour to transfer tickets where ever possible but we are unable to guarantee exchanges
- Capital E reserves the right to alter without notice any advertised schedule, artist or event
- All children must be accompanied by an adult. Safety requirements mean everyone, including babies, must have a ticket
- Tickets for under- two’s sharing a seat with an adult are free
- We will endeavour to sit groups together but this may not always be possible. Some venues may include seating on the floor
- Prices include GST and are in NZ dollars. Tickets can not be on-sold for a different amount. All internet bookings through the Capital E website will incur a booking fee
- Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the event
- Cameras, audio and video recorders and/or in the theatres
- The right of admission is reserved and is subject to the venue’s terms and conditions
- Entry may be denied if the ticket has been lost/damaged or defaced in any way, or has not been purchased from Capital E or other authorised points of sale
- Ticket holders attending the event do so at their own risk including loss or damage to personal property
- Capital E will only replace lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets if the authenticity of the ticket can be verified, including proof of purchase, and with reasonable notice
- If an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated, all liability is limited to the amount for which the ticket was purchased (including any fees or charges). Proof of purchase may be required for any refund or exchange. Capital E will not be liable for any other losses incurred by you as a result of the cancellation, rescheduling or relocation of an event, including any travel and accommodation expenses.
Bite-Size Treats 2023 Prezzy Card Draw
Capital E, part of Wellington Museums Trust, trading as Experience Wellington, will be known as The Promoter within these terms and conditions.
- To enter the competition, the entrant must complete the Bite-Size Treats 2023 survey via Survey Monkey. This automatically gains you entry into the draw for the competition stipulated.
- The Promoter has the right to deny entry to any entrant who has not complied with the steps detailed in the e-newsletter.
- Only one entry into the draw per person.
- Only individuals who attended Bite-Size Treats 2023 as a teacher or parent/caregiver helper associated with the school or ECC they came with, can enter.
- The promotion is not open to any individual associated with The Promoter. This includes:
– staff and immediate family members of The Promoter and all organisations that are part of Experience Wellington
– any individual in a business that supplies to Capital E, which includes individuals directly involved in shows or events organised by Capital E
– staff from agencies or partners already receiving complimentary tickets.
- The winners will be drawn on Tuesday 16 May 2023.
- The winners will be notified via email or phone or any contact detail that the winner has supplied.
- The prize draw is final and correspondence will not be entered into.
- The names of any individuals under the age of 18 who are involved in any Capital E prize draws will not be released in any way.
- Third party terms and conditions for the prizes apply.
- Travel and other incidental costs associated with claiming the prizes are the responsibility of the winner/s.
- The prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
- In the event that a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond The Promoter’s control, The Promoter has the right to replace the original prize with one of the same or higher value.
- The Promoter and their agents are not responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever that is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury suffered or sustained during the course of the promotion or accepting or using the prize.
- By entering the promotion, entrants accept the terms and conditions stated above.

Shipping Policy

Our online store currently only ships within New Zealand.
When you place an order, we will quote shipping for you based on the availability of your items. Please note that the shipping rates for items we sell are weight and size-based. We charge a flat rate for shipping based on these measurements. All weights will be rounded up to the next 100gms to reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use.

There will be different ways our Privacy Policy applies to you, depending on how you engage with us. For example:
- You may book a ticket or experience (including education and venue hire) with us. In that instance, we will use the information you provide to meet our obligations in delivering that service. Where you permit us, we will let you know about other events and offerings that may be of interest to you;
- When you browse our sites, we use cookies to customise your experience and improve your online experience;
- If you make a donation, we may get in touch to let you know how your contribution helped keep our experiences accessible to all.
Collecting personal information
- When you create an account, book or purchase a ticket or experience, book a school visit, or hire our venue we will collect your information depending on the experience we are providing. It may include your contact and billing information and dietary or other specific requirements. This will be collected via our website, our ticketing or booking system, or by direct contact with a team member.
- When you use our websites, we collect information such as the browser and device you are using, your IP address, your location, the site you came from, and what you did and didn’t use our site for.
- When you sign up to receive our newsletter via our websites we will retain your permission
- If you have accessibility requirements, we want to ensure you have the best experience when attending events. To do this, we need to collect details of your requirements (which may involve you providing information about your mental or physical health). This information will be collected by our online booking systems or by direct contact with a team member and will only be viewable by the necessary team members to deliver the experience.
How we use your information and why
There are several reasons why we collect your personal information, such as helping you find new experiences you will love, sharing news for marketing and fundraising purposes, and as otherwise required by law.
Part of providing you with our arts, culture, science and childrens events is understanding what you enjoy and want to know. When we know you better, we can offer you more of what you want. We only wish to contact you about things you will be interested in, so the information we collect will help us do this.
When you purchase or book an experience with us, we use your information to:
- Process payment and booking
- Provide you with customer support
For our business functions:
- For our marketing purposes.
- To send you emails including booking information, event reminders and updates.
- To create a profile about you to help us personalise our services to you. For example, if you purchase tickets to an art event and have consented to receive our emails we may notify you of other art-related Experience Wellington events we think you might be interested in.
Who we share your data with and why
We store data (including your personal information) on a secure Microsoft cloud platform, Microsoft Office 365 applications and other third party platforms. We protect our data with all reasonable technical and process controls.
We will not share your data with any third parties or partners unless we explicitly request your permission.
- In booking or purchasing tickets to our events or experiences, or by completing an online form we will store your data in our ticketing, payment, accounting, and CRM systems.
- Only team members that have role requirements will be able to access our CRM and ticketing system software.
- We will share your information with Government agencies or other authorised bodies where permitted or as required by law
- We will share your information with any successor to all or part of our business
Children and Young People
All our experiences offer entertainment and education experiences for children and young people. We will only collect and store the minimum information required to deliver these experiences, for our Ministry of Education reporting, and for marketing purposes.
In the few instances where we collect the personal information of children, we will always seek parental or caregiver consent.

Cookies and Online Visitor Tracking
Our websites issue a non-personalised “cookie” to each visitor. As you navigate our sites, your usage is tracked to help us provide a better online customer experience and improve online content. We look at repeat visitors, the length of time you spend on our websites, and navigation pathways. Cookies are also used in e-newsletters to our mailing list subscribers to personalise content and track interest via the links you click.
When you use a social media feature within our websites, and post to social media platforms, the social media site will provide us with some information about you.
Images of you
On occasion we may have a photographer or videographer at our venues or events capturing the experience. These photos or video may be shared by Experience Wellington and used to show the activities at our organisations.
If you do not wish to be photographed or appear in a video, please let our photographer or other team member know.
If we share an image of you that you don’t want to have shared, please contact us via our website.
Online Surveys
Where you voluntarily provide information (personal and otherwise) via our surveys, we will only use that information for the specific purpose stated, including reporting requirements, funding applications, and building our understanding of our audience.
Contacting Us
If you choose to complete an online form or contact us by email for any reason, we will only record your email address and other contact details that will enable us to respond to your enquiry or feedback. Your details will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purposes unless you have provided your consent.
Your Rights
- At any time, you can opt-out of receiving our marketing communications. You can do this by unsubscribing to emails from within the email itself or by getting in touch, and we will update your preferences.
- You have the right to request access to your data and to correct it. You can do this by contacting our Privacy Officer at [email protected]
Looking after your information
We only keep your information for as long as it is required to provide you with the services you need, for as long as you are interested in hearing from us and for any legal purposes for which we are obliged to keep the information.
We will remove subscribers after a period of inactivity inline with our policy.
We take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect is protected against loss, unauthorised access and disclosure or any other misuse.
Youtube Retention Policy
OnTV school shows with permission to be uploaded to the internet will be retained on the YouTube/CapitalENZ channel for the duration of the current year and the following year.
All recorded shows will be available for download from our website capitale.org.nz/digital downloads for the duration of the current year and the following year. All recorded OnTV shows and work created in the MediaLab will be archived at Capital E for a period of five years.
OnTV and MediaLab Booking
- Session prices are $7.50 per student for Wellington Regional schools and $10.00 per student for schools outside the Wellington Region. Accompanying adults attend free of charge.
- Max number of students per session is 32. Min number of students for OnTV is 10. There is no min number for MediaLab
- Min session charge is $150.00
- Your school will be invoiced after your visit, unless otherwise requested.
- Cancellations made within 15 working days (3 weeks) before your visit will incur a cancellation fee of $80.00. Cancellations made within 5 working days (1 week) will incur a cancellation fee of $150.00. Cancellations must be made in writing (email).
- The booking teacher/school representative has read and understood Capital E’s RAMs – found online under your programme’s resources tab.
- The booking teacher/school representative agrees to bring enough adults to fulfil their own school’s adult to child ratio policy and safely supervise their students during the visit according to our RAMs requirement. We suggest a ratio of 1 adult for every 8 students.
- Late arrival will result in a reduced programme. We advise all groups to arrive at Capital E’s PlayHQ reception at least five minutes before their start time. Please allow time to find parking or walk from your bus drop-off. If you are running late, please contact Capital E on 04 913 3740.
- We expect students to listen to instructions and treat differing ideas with respect. On the rare occasion of serious or unsafe behaviour, a teacher or guardian may be requested to remove disruptive students.
