Ngā Tūrua Kiwi

Sniff, scratch and burrow at Ngā Turua Kiwi, Kiwi Burrows.

In our latest play activation, whānau can explore themes of creating homes, a connection to whenua, and the importance of conservation in Pōneke.

Imagine yourself as a Western Brown Kiwi as you:

  • Wriggle and crawl through kiwi burrows of different shapes and sizes.
  • Discover hidden surprises on the forest floor, including crunchy textures, a bouncy seat, and even pests hiding amongst the leaf litter.
  • Climb the towering tree to the top of the forest canopy, then slide all the way down to the forest floor.
  • Get creative and build your own cozy tūrua burrow using ‘raw’ materials (wheelchair-accessible).

There will be something for every age and accessibility-level, with both high-energy and low-energy play options, a pēpē baby area, and wheelchair-accessible play stations.

This activation is supported by Capital Kiwi Project.
