Join local artist Tayla Hartemink for a hands-on screenprinting workshop exploring the importance of protecting our moana and waterways.

Te moana is an important source of life; it sustains ecosystems, provides habitat for native species, and supports our communities through recreation, kai gathering, and drinking water. However, many of our waterways are at risk from human activity.

In this hands-on workshop, tamariki aged 8-10 learn to screenprint as they express their ideas around the importance of our waterways and our collective responsibility in protecting them.

The workshop begins at Ngā Paiaka Bleachers with Wellington City Libraries to spark inspiration. Participants then head to the Kia Mākūkū! Makerspace Wet to bring their ideas to life using ink and fabric, screenprinting their own designs onto recycled tees or tote bags using stencils created by Tayla.

Tote bags and t-shirts are provided.

Tamariki should bring a packed lunch and a water bottle.

Bookings are essential for each young person that wishes to take part.
