Our new play space for under 5s
Welcome back and happy new year!
It’s set to be a big year for Nōku te Ao Capital E. Our previous location at Queens Wharf is now closed to the public, and we are in full swing setting up our new space in Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, Wellington Central Library.
Opening day is Saturday 14 March and we can’t wait to see you there. For now, take a look at some sneak peeks:
Follow the whai!
These colourful whai mark the way to our new play space for under 5s, on the mezzanine level.
You can spot them from the ground floor of Te Matapihi when you look up, and you can also see them from Victoria Street peeking through the windows.

Look out for the whai on the windows
Bench seating
There’s plenty of space for whānau to stash their belongings in our new benches, with open cubbies on the sides.

Inspired by nature
The design throughout Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui is inspired by te taiao nature, and you will notice many features in the building are inspired by the flora and fauna of the ngahere forest floor. You can see these natural influences in the different patterned carpet across the different levels of Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui.

Up on level two, our two learning spaces are taking shape too.
Taupuni OnTV studio
Our new Taupuni OnTV studio has already been kitted out with a new greenscreen wall, and we are busy bringing all our film equipment over to the new building.

The new greenscreen has been installed and new computers are on the way!
Stay posted for more sneak peeks soon!
