Frequently Asked Questions: Our new play space at Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui

There are less than 100 days until we open at Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, Wellington Central Library.

If you’ve been wondering what to expect from our new spaces, check out the answers to some frequently asked questions:

While our location might be changing, you’ll be pleased to know that many things you love about our current play space will stay just the same in Te Matapihi.

Will it cost to enter the play space?

No, our play space will remain free to enjoy. As a charity we appreciate donations to help create a fun, safe and creative space for tamariki and whānau to connect.

Will I be able to bring my pram inside?

Yes, you can bring your pram through Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui to our play space on the mezzanine floor, where there will be a safe place to park it. There will be elevators, and ramps inside and outside the building to navigate your way around.

Will there be a space to store bags and coats?

Yes, there will be safe storage areas inside the play space where you can leave your belongings.

Will there be bathrooms for tamariki?

Yes! The play space has two bathrooms, including one that is fully accessible. In both bathrooms you’ll find paper towels for drying hands (instead of scary hand dryers). There are also tamariki-friendly bathrooms in other areas of Te Matapihi.

Will your opening hours be the same or different when you move?

Our opening hours will remain the same when we move into Te Matapihi, Monday to Saturday 9.30am-3.30pm, closed Sundays.
