Introducing the designer creating our new play space

We are excited to announce that Scott Parker will be designing and building our new play space in Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, Wellington’s new Central Library.

Scott is an exhibition and experience designer who brings over 15 years of experience in creating inspiring public spaces for tamariki. He has created play spaces in museums, galleries and visitor-experience spaces across Aotearoa and Australia.

Originally from Ngāmotu, Taranaki, and having lived in Wellington, Scott now lives in Hawkes Bay. Scott’s deep connection to his whakapapa and commitment to embedding Mātauranga Māori values into his work make him a great fit to build our new play space for under 5s in Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui.

Scott’s work emphasises immersive and interactive spaces where storytelling and design converge to engage multiple senses. Scott places an emphasis on inclusive design in his work, wanting to create spaces where adults and children all feel welcome.
