What to expect from the space

Storage
Bags can be stored in our breakout space for the duration of your visit if needed. Space is limited, and bags can be kept with you during your visit.
Where you can eat and drink
Food and drink can be consumed in both the play space and our breakout space. Nōku te Ao spaces are nut free zones so please ensure families are aware of this when planning kai for the trip.
Social media
If your centre posts on social media please ensure non-centre tamariki aren’t captured or can’t be identified in the images/videos.

What is expected of teachers and accompanying adults

Fulfil adult to child ratios
The booking teacher/centre representative agrees to bring enough adults to fulfil their own centre’s adult to child ratio policy and safely supervise their tamariki during the visit according to our Safety Management Plan requirement, with at least one registered teacher accompanying each group. We suggest a ratio of 1 adult for every 4 tamariki.
Supervise tamariki and participate
Kaiako and parents/helpers should remain with the group throughout the entire visit to ensure tamariki are supervised. Each group is assigned only one Learning Specialist, so accompanying adults should be aware that they may need to play an active role in the visit, this will make for a richer, more fulfilling experience for all.
Let us know if you are running late
Late arrival may result in a reduced programme. We advise all groups to arrive and wait just inside the main entry doors from Victoria St of Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui. Please allow time to find parking or walk from your bus drop-off. If you are running late, please contact Nōku te Ao Capital E on 04 913 3742 first, or 04 913 3740.
Serious or unsafe behaviour
On rare occasions of serious or unsafe behaviour, a kaiako or parent/helper may be asked to take tamariki outside the play space, alternatively there is a low sensory room on the ground floor, just ask the library team at the Pae Manaaki | Manaaki Desk to open it for you.

What is expected of tamariki

Follow instructions
Our Learning Specialists are experienced professionals, following their instructions and guidelines will make for an enjoyable learning experience for the whole group.
Treat others with care
Nōku te Ao is open to the public during your visit, we ask all tamariki and their caregivers to treat others in the space with care and respect.
Looking out for those smaller and younger than yourselves while in the space.
Please be extra mindful of the Ngake slide, it’s a body slide and it’s great to have role models for our younger tamariki.
