Children! The National Arts Festival has been curated to ignite and fuel the creative spark in children and young people. Principals, teachers, aides, and enough parent/guardian helpers to cover the school’s adult-to-child ratio also get to come along. Festival education experiences must be booked by an ECC, school, or home-school group representative.
Any age, 0 – 14yrs but check each show for age and content appropriateness. The Junior week is ideal for ECC’s and Years 1 – 4 and the Senior week is ideal for Years 5+.
Capital E’s National Arts Festival is a celebration of performance made just for children and young people! It’s a live theatre festival extravaganza and is an integral part of Wellington’s cultural calendar. The festival runs from 9 – 22 March with a full week for junior audiences and a full week for senior audiences. Venues are located throughout the Wellington CBD, all a short walking distance from each other.
Education groups of 40 + from the Greater Wellington region (Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua as far north as Pukerua Bay) attending a three-show package are eligible for the free buses. This availability is strictly limited, so book in quick! In the case of home-schools, the group must nominate one pick-up/drop-off location.
We have funding to provide low-decile schools (decile 1-3) with a discount. Check out our free bus details to see if you’re eligible for a free bus.
One adult per 10 children attends free of charge. Any additional adults are charged the normal package price.
Fill in the booking form, and we’ll kick start the process! Check out our show page to find out which package will best suit your students. You may not get your first choice of package, but don’t worry, all the options are fantastic! Talk to our bookings coordinator Harriet if you have questions.
Contact Harriet, our bookings coordinator as soon as you’re sure numbers have changed. Any additional bookings are strictly subject to availability and will be charged. Let us know if your numbers drop as well, however, no refunds will be issued.
We do not offer refunds for reduced numbers, you will be invoiced for the confirmed numbers at the beginning of term 1. We encourage you to find another student to fill the seat.
