Capital E’s Ideatorium is an opportunity for New Zealand artists and creative people to realise their vision in delivering high-quality experiences for children and young people.
Capital E’s focus is on igniting and fuelling the spark of creativity in children and young people. We hope that while tamariki are enjoying our experiences the parents, caregivers and educators will enjoy themselves too. We don’t accept applications that are specifically for adult audiences.
No. Ideatorium is an expression of interest process where artists are supported to develop and produce their creative ideas.
Of course! We aim to support selected artists in their idea development, so we encourage you to apply as many times as you like. A separate application entry and form will need to be submitted for each idea.
For Play Activations and Digital applications you will ideally have a formed concept and a rough idea of the scope – the audience profile, duration, number of participants, equipment etc and if applicable, are able to submit an approximate budget of artist fees, materials and other associated costs.
You should include in your application time for development, planning, evaluation and reflection.
If you are successful, the scope and timing of your project may need to be flexible to work into the Capital E programming calendar.
After the closing date for submissions the proposals will be reviewed by the Capital E Advisory Panel against the guidelines. Panel members will discuss the proposals and consider the artistic idea and project feasibility.
Shortlisted artists will be invited to meet with the team to talk further about the implementation of the project.
Your budget should include an itemised list of the equipment, tools, software that you will need to deliver your project. Capital E may be able to provide some of these items, but your budget spreadsheet is a good place to list them.
The Capital E Ideatorium is looking for original work from artists. If you are refreshing an old idea or have already exhibited or performed the concept elsewhere it will not meet the requirements for Ideatorium.
The National Arts Festival for Children will accept pre-existing, tour-ready shows.
Our Artistic Advisory Panel is made up of arts practitioners from around New Zealand and the Capital E creative producers. The panel’s job is to assess your proposal and if you are successful, the Capital E team will partner with you to realise your project.
