Festival Tips for Teachers

Make the most of your National Arts Festival school trip with our useful tips for teachers!

Ready, Steady, Go!

There are lots of things happening during the Wellington arts festival which means all performances will begin at the scheduled time.  All package experiences and shows have been scheduled to finish within a school day. If you’re running late for a show, you might not be able to enter the theatre after the performance has begun.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

The National Arts Festival is an all-weather festival; rain, shine, sleet, or snow, the show must go on! Wellington is known for its varied weather conditions, so prepare your class. There will be walking between venues so prepare for anything! We recommend checking the weather the day before your trip and bringing along your warm coats, hats, and sunscreen.

The Numbers Count

Each venue has different seating arrangements and numbers, so we encourage you to book early to ensure you get the seats you need. If your 2019 roll numbers are unknown, please give us your best estimate and we’ll confirm with you in 2019. Please be realistic with your numbers so we can do our best to meet everyone’s needs.

Year/ Age Range

We do our best to recommend a package of the best shows based on age groups, but these are just recommendations. If there’s a show that stands out to you, or you’d like to chat through the content of the show, get in touch with the team at capitalebookings@experiencewellington.org.nz or on 04 913 3742.
