“The plays of Taki Rua have done as much as any historian or documentary maker - and more than most - to illustrate life in NZ … In fact, I count them among the clearest, most illuminated and positive examples of Pakeha and Māori crossovers I've ever encountered.” – James Littlewood, Auckland University

About the performance
Strange Resting Places performed at the NZ International Arts Festival to rave reviews. Our Festival is delighted to welcome this specially adapted version for young audiences.

Two young men, one Māori, one Italian, find themselves holed up together, and with the German Army right outside, realize they will need each other to survive. This is a warmly entertaining story of courage, endurance and most importantly, friendship.

Set against the backdrop of World War II this delightful production is overflowing with humour and heart. A hugely entertaining mix of physical theatre, song and storytelling.
