Why is the Festival On?

Capital E began this millennium believing that creativity is vital for a healthy and vibrant future. Living and working with children, schools and families in Wellington, a city that shares this belief, has only shown us how deeply this is true.
Our Festival is a flagship event supported by Wellington City Council and Wellington Museums Trust. It is freshly presented by Capital E to inspire our Capital City every two years. Around 50,000 people have enjoyed performances and workshops since it first began in 2003 and we’ve been working hard to ensure the 2007 Festival will again excite, thrill, and nurture creativity.
Through all of the experiences for young people at Capital E, from creating multimedia music and producing live television to our circus school and professional theatre productions, we have developed these key understandings:
Art Inspires –Sharing quality arts experiences is inspirational for children, for adults and for professional artists themselves.
- Children are at their most creative when their imagination is most respected.
- Festivals are amazing fun!
In a short time the Capital E National Arts Festival has won awards for the City and has put Wellington well and truly on the international children’s festival map. In March 2007, professional artists and festival producers from Canada , USA , Australia , Indonesia and ten other Asia-Pacific countries will touch down here looking forward to our world-class Festival experience.
We invite you to join us all, to share in our rich creative culture and to celebrate the artistic respect we offer young audiences.
See you there!
