The Dominion Post Create-It Carnival

Sat 17 March, 10am – 4pm. Civic Square. Free Event.

A free day out for the whole family, this Carnival is about making your own art. Artists, craftspeople, and helpers will be under marquees, filling Civic Square with opportunities for you to create your own masterpieces using a huge range of materials and techniques. All-day entertainment by talented young and young-at-heart performers will fill the day with funky sounds to keep your feet tapping.   And if you hear the sound of scissors clipping, don’t be shy. Test your faith in children and get your hair cut too. A group of young people have spent a morning at Get Funk’d Hair Salon to see what it takes to cut hair and they’ll be eager to try out their new skills at the Carnival. Hey, if you can’t trust kids who can you trust?   Kids, click here to register your interest in becoming a hairdresser for the day!

What to Expect

As you meander around the different craft areas, friendly activity leaders will help you create something wonderful to take home. A public art project will give you the chance to put your skills and creativity towards a shared creation, and you will get to see heaps of talented young performers.
