Songs of the Sea
“A magical tour through the mythical and enchanting world of the sea …a wonderful illusionary world…engaging performances…delightful songs… a dazzling spectacle…” Dominion Post 2004

Songs of the Sea is a colourful and fun early childhood production combining superb puppets, catchy music and clever stage design to unfold a mythical tale of where all the creatures of the Pacific Ocean come from.
Using brilliantly-coloured puppet characters four performers act and sing bringing to life this work written and directed by Capital E National Theatre for Children artistic director Peter Wilson.
A simple and clever set involves large circular rings which transform the stage into rock pools and waves, planets and stars with designer William Wilson’s simple and constantly changing set.
It’s a show that’s also designed to have children singing along with easy melodies by Steve Gallagher and Peter Wilson’s charming lyrics, putting faces to fish names in Te Reo and English.
The spectacular and very popular array of puppets are designed and made by professional Auckland artist Sue Hill.
