Capital E National Theatre for Children
Presenting award-winning professional theatre for young people. . .
Mission
Give every young New Zealander the opportunity to experience the very best in professional performance art, through work that speaks of Aotearoa and our place in the world.
Vision
To be a gateway to excellence in the professional performing arts.
Mandate
To create and present quality professional theatrical experiences to children, their families and their communities.
Capital E National Theatre for Children serves two principal markets.
- Schools
The theatre company performs for children in pre-school, primary school, and lower secondary schools nationwide. This generally covers the ages of 2 - 14 years. Shows are presented nationally in theatre venues during school terms to give students a total experience of 'going to the theatre'.
- Public
Shows are produced for children aged 2 - 7 and 8 - 14 years. All shows are designed to also appeal to the adult audience attending with the children, and therefore many can be classified as family shows.
Performances run during school holidays and weekends at the Capital E McKenzie Theatre, Wellington. Selected shows are performed at festivals and venues throughout New Zealand at different times of the year.
